Nice In Nice

Takima, "Trente Ans" and a Treat for All

We've been planning Takima's 30th for a few months (a la New York, April '08) and here we are, celebrating this talented and self-actualized young lady, whom I've been blessed to know for nearly 10 years (thank you Dezo and ESPN Zone!).

We decided to visit Nice and share her "spoken word" with the locals. But first, we were "upgraded" to first class (the first time that's happened, must be the angelic halo of this lovely lady) on our way to Rome (a short layover, which thankfully, lasted longer than scheduled).

We took the opportunity to see a few sites, including the Coliseum....

And, the surrounding neighborhood where we had a tea before our shuttle back to the airport. As we enjoyed the hospitality of Marco, the kind proprietor who continued to check on our ride, I noticed a beautiful blond and, her handsome husband.....

In the small world category, bumping into newlyweds Mary Michael and Luke, just days after their nuptials, was an amazing moment. I'm sure when I said "Mary Michael" -- on the street near this ancient monument -- she thought her Mom had stowed away on their flight.

Once our day in Italy was done, we made it to Nice. The energy, along with the tram and the thrill of Takima's first European tour, gave way to the glee of this city.

Soon, the birthday babe was making new friends. Faithful readers will recognize G'Man -- classmate extraordinaire -- and Charhnaz, our favorite "avocate", as we begin the festivities at Chez Dyer.

King Wlad gives a thumbs up to Ms. Maryline and her victorious title of Ms. Alaska.

Meanwhile, Dady Mimbo sparks the tunes, once again, as friends enjoy (and, I hope that my thigh-high boots stay in place).

Jewel, you have my heartfelt thanks. Someday I'll meet you and tell you what a gift your daughter is in my life.

Yes, it's been over a month since my last post. And, there is so much more of Takima's talent to share, which I promise I will do within the next few days.

Stay warm and, stay tuned.
